A seated neurofeedback experience using the Neurosity Crown 3 to train attention. The conceptual framing draws on the Qualia Research Institute’s work on coupling kernels. Sessions are open-ended, with no audio or guest-facing feedback for now, so facilitator framing carries the experience.
ℹ️Experience Information
About the experience
The Weave is an attention-training experience using the Neurosity Crown 3. The guest sits comfortably, wears the Crown, and practices holding either a calm state or a focus state for as long as they like. There is no audio or guest-facing feedback yet, so the facilitator explains what the system is doing and what the guest is invited to practise.
The work is inspired by the Qualia Research Institute’s coupling-kernel framework, which explores how patterns of interaction may shape neural dynamics and field topology. This is the conceptual basis for the experience, not a medical or diagnostic claim about what the Crown measures or changes.

🌀 Context Engineering Tips:
- Set & Setting:Create a quiet seated station with minimal movement, conversation, and electrical interference.
- Attention as Practice:Frame the session as an experiment in noticing and training attention rather than as a test of performance.
- Simple Orientation:There is no audio or visual feedback yet, so explain in your own words what the Crown is doing and what the guest is being invited to practise.
- One Clear Intention:Offer a single direction — either calm now or focus now — rather than a complex instruction set.
- Handle With Care:The Crown is expensive and fragile. Fit, remove, and store it slowly and deliberately.
- Data Transparency:Tell guests their data is processed by Neurosity, is anonymous, and is not saved by us.
- Non-Medical Language:Do not make diagnostic, therapeutic, or brain-reading claims. Describe the Crown as a neurofeedback interface.
- Minimize Effort:Invite relaxed curiosity. Over-efforting, facial tension, jaw movement, or posture changes may create signal artefacts.
- Reflection:Afterward, ask what the guest noticed internally rather than focusing only on a score or system output.
🎛️ Facilitator Cheat Sheet
A solo, seated attention-training experience using the Neurosity Crown 3. The guest holds either a calm state or a focus state for as long as they want. No calibration is required and there is no guest-facing feedback yet — the system runs continuously and the facilitator explains everything verbally.
At a glance:
Duration
Open-ended — as long as the guest wants
Capacity
Solo — one guest at a time
Device
Neurosity Crown 3 + laptop running the .exe
Language
None in-experience — facilitators explain it verbally
Input
EEG signal — guest holds either calm or focus
Position
Seated and still
Intensity
Mild; cognitively engaging
Extra consent
Head-worn sensor contact; data is processed by Neurosity, anonymous, and not saved by us
Setup & activation
- Crown model: Neurosity Crown 3
- Charging: Keep the Crown charged whenever it is not in use
- Power-on: If the Crown is on and charging, unplug it. If it is off, long-press the button to turn it on (same button to turn off)
- Control device: Anesti handles the initial network connection setup. After that the Crown connects and runs automatically, which can take a few minutes; everything else is done through the UI
- App/software and launch path: Run the .exe on Anesti's laptop desktop — that's it
- Pairing/connectivity: Automatic, just turn the Crown on
- Required network: Online only, no offline mode (data use is minimal)
- Sensor placement and fit check: The Neurosity website stays open on the laptop — use the placement image there as the reference
- Signal quality / baseline: Most channels should read green before starting
- Calibration: Not needed, but allow a few seconds for the signal to settle and start working properly
- Feedback mode: No audio and no guest-facing feedback for now
- Sessions: The system runs more or less continuously. To end a session, plug the Crown into its charger at a fixed, safe spot
- Battery: Can be checked on the Neurosity website
- Data/privacy: All data is processed by Neurosity, is anonymous, and is not saved by us
How to facilitate
- Seat the guest comfortably and explain that the session uses the Neurosity Crown 3 to support an attention-training exercise.
- Explain that there is no audio or on-screen feedback yet, so your spoken framing carries the experience — and that this is not medical assessment, diagnosis, or treatment.
- Mention consent: data is processed by Neurosity, is anonymous, and is not saved by us.
- Ask permission before fitting the Crown. Handle it very carefully — it is expensive and fragile.
- Check comfort, hair/sensor contact, and placement using the reference image on the Neurosity website, and confirm most channels read green.
- Offer one clear intention: either calm now or focus now.
- Allow a few seconds for the signal to settle, then invite the guest to breathe naturally and hold the chosen state without straining.
- Let the session run as long as the guest wants. Monitor contact, artefacts, comfort, and signal quality.
- If nothing seems to happen for the guest, check the Multiplier and increase it, or offer another experience.
- Remove the Crown with consent, return it to its charging spot, and allow a short pause for reflection.
- Ask: “What did you notice while you were holding that state?”
Troubleshooting
- Crown will not power on → it needs charging; put it on the charger.
- Device will not pair → restart the software, then the hardware. If that does not work, Anesti has to fix it in the Neurosity app.
- Nothing seems to happen for a guest → always check the Multiplier first (it may be holding an old value), increase it, or offer another experience.
- Noisy or weak signal → check fit, sensor contact, hair obstruction, movement, jaw tension, and nearby interference; most channels should be green.
- Consistently bad connectivity → some sensors may need replacing. Escalate to Anesti; do not attempt it yourself.
- Battery status unclear → the battery level can be checked on the Neurosity website.
- Guest discomfort or pressure → pause immediately, remove the Crown with consent, and inspect fit before continuing.
- Unknown or unresolved issue → do not improvise; mark unavailable and escalate to Anesti or the technical lead.
