A self-guided interactive Lycra cave by Laxita & Bileam. Rear projection and movement-responsive visuals transform the environment while facilitators manage reception, wristbands, capacity, safe flow, and technical observation.
ℹ️Experience Information
About the experience
Nowhere Now Here is a walk-in cave built from stretch Lycra fabric with two rear projectors. The environment responds automatically to how people move and behave inside it.
Groups enter and leave freely without guided facilitation inside. The installation runs as a shared, responsive space, with the reception team managing 6–8 visitors at a time and directing guests toward the integration area afterward.
🌀 Context Engineering Tips:
- Frame entry as stepping into a shared responsive organism rather than viewing a screen.
- Encourage slow movement first so guests recognize how the cave responds.
- Let groups discover collective effects without directing every interaction.
- Keep reception and waiting activity outside the projection field.
- Invite a brief reflection before directing guests to integration.
🎛️ Facilitator Cheat Sheet
Self-guided installation: facilitators manage reception, wristbands, capacity, safe entry/exit, and technical observation rather than guiding inside.

Setup & installation requirements
- Build and tension the Lycra cave; secure structure, central object, exits, and floor.
- Align both rear projectors and verify computer output and movement tracking.
- Run protected extensions from the main structure; use cable covers and team power strips.
- Prepare wristbands and reception capacity system.
- The team planned 1–2 setup days; allow longer if fabricating the central object on site.
How to facilitate
- Explain at reception that movement changes the cave and issue wristbands.
- Keep capacity to 6–8 and preserve a clear exit.
- Let guests enter and leave freely; do not over-direct inside.
- Watch projection, tracking, Lycra tension, floor safety, and crowd flow.
- Direct guests toward the integration area afterward.
Troubleshooting
- No image or misalignment → check both rear projectors, mapping, focus, and computer output.
- No movement response → check camera view, tracking process, lighting, and obstruction.
- Power issue → verify extensions, distribution, and protected connections.
- Unresolved → close entry and escalate to Laxita, Bileam, or the technical lead.
